after having seen them in berlin I was pretty amazed to have the opportunity to see them in ny. the set was totally different from berlin, many new songs, which are great as well a the classics and adark, nearly gothic stage, with gargoyles and a notre dame-window.
andy bell and vince clarke were laughing, throwing jokes and seemed pretty happy to do the show. (climax: vince cutting andy's corsage-strings with a scissor to undresss him on stage - see next post; and "sometimes" with a lot of guitar - see second video!)
and andy bells voice was perfect - much better than in berlin, where it seemed a bit croaky
the spirits were running high and the whole room sang along and partied. hoarse and covered in sweat i left the scene.
what a great band, what a great concert, what an inspiration for my own work.
